One of these witnesses was michael cohen, the president s personal lawyer, who ultimately pled guilty to Campaign Violations based on secret hush money payments to two women the president knew and also to lying to congress about the hope for a 1 billion trump tower deal. After the fbi searched cohens home, the president called him up personally, he said to check in, and told him to, quote, hang in there and stay strong. Is that right . Do you remember finding that . If its in the report as stated, yes, it is right. Yes. Also in the report, actually, are a series of calls made by other friends of the president. One reached out to say he was with the boss in maralago, and the president said he loves you. His name is redacted. Another redacted friend called to say the boss loves you. And a third redacted friend called to say everyone knows the boss has your back. Do you remember
great frustration throughout the country about the fact that you wouldn t answer any questions about the origins of this whole charade, the infamous chris fear steele dossier, totally bogus, even though it s listed and referenced in your report. apparently we ll get no comment from that on you. there s one primary reason you were called here today by the democratic majority of the committee. our colleagues just want political cover. they desperately wanted you to tell them today to impeach the president. one thing you have said very clearly is that your report is complete and thorough and you completely stand by its recommendations and all of its content. is that right? true. one last important question. your report does not recommend impeachment. does it? i m not going to talk about recommendations. it does not conclude that impeachment would be appropriate here, right? i m not going to talk about that issue.

congress in a bill that would be signed by the president. so this may allow congress to kick the can down the road a little bit. but i mean, you could be talking about a matter of weeks until this ruling is overturned. so the heat still is on congress and the president to reach a deal on daca. so they started that process and we saw it in that remarkable moment. normally, as it s been pointed out, we normally just see a spray of what s happening. here are the players in the room. no, president trump said, hey, you guys can staeurbgs the media. is and we watched the actual negotiations. just yesterday when we were on the show we said nothing will really happen in this meeting. no. they actually took the opportunity to express themselves and sort of fight it out. and that was great. it is great for people to be able to see what chris calls the sauceage making spectacle. it is about civics. the president is showing he is in command. he can oversee a negotiation, the long promised art
