A popular eastern iowa golf clubhouse is no longer standing, after a fire early friday morning. Flames engulfed the amana colonies golf club, around 3 45 am friday. The fire was so hot crews couldnt approach the building at first. The smoke and flames were visible for miles, and it took firefighters about two hours to put the fire out. The building is a complete loss, but no one was injured. Firefighters remained at the scene most of the day. The fire also destroyed dozens of golf carts and other equipment. One former employee at the golf course said she had to come and see the damage for herself. I dont think its hit us yet, affiliation with it, other than going over to golf, no its really sad. Police say 21 yearold Jonathan Gossman was one of three people in a vehicle officers stopped last night near 32 hundred ravenwood terrace northwest. The stop was part of a drug investigation at a nearby store. Police say after all three people were out of the vehicle, gossman suddenly ran away. In the short chase, officers say gossman pulled out a gun and fired at two officers. They fired back and killed gossman. Police are questioning the two other people in the vehicle. People who live in the area or take their children to daycare in the area say this neighborhood is usually pretty safe. Nothings ever happened ever, is a quiet neighborhood. Nothing happens.
