Fairfield police say a 69-year-old man died in a motorcycle crash last night at the Intersection of Route 45 and Highway 15 west of Fairfield. Police say he appeared to be westbound on Highway 15 at approximately 8:50 when he lost control and struck a curb, then a traffic sign. The motorcycle then hit another curb and ejected the operator. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of family. The City of Fairfield, with the assistance of Frontier Community College, has announced a Back to Business Grant workshop later this week. The workshop will be held in Room 24 of Mason Hall from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday. Fairfield Zoning Officer Flo Simpson will be on hand to assist businesses in submitting their grant applications; the program will begin accepting applications on Wednesday, and it will close October 11th. FCHS will hold its Senior Prom on May 8
th, with line-up at the school at 4 and Prom itself at the Willow Creek Venue at 6:30. FCHS After Prom has permission to hold After Prom at FCHS, as well, and it is selling luminaires in honor or memory of someone to light the gravel pathway up to Willow Creek as a fundraiser. They can be purchased for $5 at Carnaby Square, Black’s Fashion Flower, and Mama Bear’s Four Seasons Crafts and More. They can also be purchased by Venmo by inserting “Luminaires” on the memo line to the After Prom FCHS account.
The Wayne County Board met last night and heard an update from County Highway Engineer Dennis Seidel about possible safety measures at the intersection of Enterprise Road and Route 161. He said he has met with various entities about possibilities, including implementing a four-way stop, but he doesn’t want to create another problem while attempting to fix another, as sight distance is key in placing stop signs. He anticipates more information in the next week. At the conclusion of the meeting, Royce Carter announced he would resign from the board, effective immediately, as he has moved out of the area. He thanked fellow board members, office holders, and voters for their trust and cooperation over the years, and a reception was held in his honor.
