republicans who don t like him and his manner, i think for them, nothing has changed. tell me a little bit about inside the republican party. maybe the divide among republicans about the performance yesterday. that s a great point. as we all expected, democrats were going to attack on this. possibly a front runner in the next race for the republican nomination. but the real reaction is from the republicans. there was a lot of there wasn t a lot of reaction. from those that did speak out, you saw a shift in attitude. there was some attacks of chris christie early from conservatives who never loved chris christie because he s willing to work with democrats. but after his news conference and a slight shift in tone from some of these conservatives, that s the real thing to look at going forward. what skconservatives say, they never really liked this guy. i had an example of this from a key republican primary state
christie as we head toward 2016? it just may be. a very good point. what was gone from this news conference is the change in his tone, his traditional swagger was gone. instead we had a contrite politician who said a number times he was humiliated and apologized a number of times. he did a lot of things that were right that he needed to do. he fired close aids. he took action right away within 24 hours. that was an important step. he was also contrite and that was key. but what this news conference was allow chris christie to fight another day and that day starts today with the 907 documents that will be released by the state senate committee that was investigated. there are other investigations on the federal level as well that could happen. possibly a civil lawsuit. so a lot of questions remain.
and take between him and reporters. it was not that way yesterday. you can see a very different crist krst as he deals with other politicians. maybe even republicans on the presidential level. we consider chris christie a likely contender for the republican nomination in 2016. so you could see definitely a different change in tone from chris christie going forward. what about the reaction in republican circles? some commentators talking about irs and benghazi. they are moving on from chris christie trying to talk about other things. supporters of christie, those are criticizing him. he was never a base candidate for them. talk to me about that different reaction among republicans. you are seeing some republicans defend him. rudy giuliani is one. he did it it on cnn last night. nicki hailey putting out a statement. that was the exception. most republicans didn t want to talk about this saying it was a matter they knew little about. you make another good point as well. chris christie
