Chris Buncombe, co-owner of Jenson Team Rocket RJN, has teased guest appearances for Jenson Button in the 2022 DTM Championship.
Button is no stranger to the world of GT racing, winning the 2018 Super GT title in the GT500 class alongside Naoki Yamamoto. The following year he would make two DTM appearances at the Hockenheimring with Team Kunimitsu.
And the Briton could well be heading back to the series in 2022.
Back in 2019, Button, alongside Buncombe and Bob Neville, founded the Jenson Team Rocket RJN outfit to take part in the Blancpain GT Series [now GT World Challenge Europe].
Jenson Button s return to Williams is a welcome feel-good story, but its signing of the 2009 world champion it handed a Formula 1 debut to as a 20-year-old could also be a shrewd move in its mission to move up the grid, says LUKE SMITH

It has been announced that Jenson Team Rocket RJN, a team partly owned by Jenson Button, is to join DTM for the 2021 season.
The team spent 2020 competing in the British GT Championship and finished in P4 with 125 points. Button himself took part in the final race in Silverstone.
Throughout the campaign they used
McLaren machinery, and will do so again in DTM with a 720S GT3.
“I’ve always loved DTM and it’s exciting to see the series evolve into this new chapter with GT3,” Button said.
“I’ve known Gerhard [Berger] for a long time and I’m sure he will ensure they put on a great show!
