The cars were snaked through Wilton Library’s parking lot up to its Drive-Thru Window like a conga line, with drivers eager to receive their free copies of Memorial Drive: A Daughter’s Memoir, the Wilton Reads 2021 selection. With the library’s choice of Memorial Drive by Natasha Trethewey, the community will explore racism and race relations through programming that will help continue the conversation begun with the events and headlines of last year. The book giveaway was made possible by Fairfield County Bank.

Eugene Wright, a distinguished bass player who toured the world and recorded some 30 albums, including the landmark “Time Out,” in his decade with the Dave Brubeck Quartet, died on Dec. 30 in the Valley Glen neighborhood of Los Angeles. He was 97.

While I appreciate everyone who did a top ten list, I don t really do em. My brain doesn t work like that. Everything with me is sort of just off the top of my head, as it happens. I also have succumbed to being a music director for 25 years and I sort of think of music in terms of what I like to play on my show instead of what I like personally. For instance, played the Jason Isbell a lot on my show because I know people liked it. Number of times listened to at home = 0. What did I listen to at home? Lots of Johnny Guitar Watson.
