neil: this is going on in union square, new york. a chaos erupting after a large rowdy crowd, probably an understatement. apparently they were gathering for a giving away of something. people could be seen tearing a construction barricade, some looked like they were hurling objects. the police were called in. things have calmed down a little bit here. the crowds aren t going away. there was a chopper overhead that spotted a number of people climbing on a roof covering the entrance to the union station subway system. they had gathered for what was this give-away that this live stream apparently well-known in social media. i m not sure exactly what it was. but they estimated 2,000 people were gathered at the give-away and the crowds have grown substantially. it s gotten steadily bigger from the earlier reads.
