Speculations Rife: AIUDF candidates sent to Rajasthan resort

STAFF REPORTER GUWAHATI: In an apparent bid to thwart possible horse-trading by the ruling BJP, the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) on Friday sent as many as 17 of its candidates of the recently-concluded Assembly elections to Rajasthan. The AIUDF candidates are currently staying in a hotel at Ajmer in the Congress-ruled Rajasthan. The results of the keenly-contested Assam Assembly elections will be declared on May 2. The AIUDF is part of the Congress-led grand alliance formed before the Assembly elections to prevent the ruling BJP from coming to power for the second time in the State. In a series of tweets on Friday, the spokesman and acting general secretary of AIMPLB called for adopting self-regulation in use of loudspeakers for Azan or call for prayers and stressed the need for taking every care as per the Islamic teachings to ensure that no one is inconvenienced.

But our present assessment is that the BJP would get in and around 84 seats. We are 100 per cent certain that the BJP-led alliance would form the government in Assam after the declaration of results (on May 2), Himanta Biswa Sarma told media during his visit to Tripura.
