Kohima district administration carries out eviction drive

Our Correspondent Kohima, July 16 (EMN): The Kohima district administration on Saturday demolished four temporary structures and sealed a house, which is under construction, citing “illegal occupation” of government-owned property despite prior eviction notice to the landowners. The alleged encroachers were said to have occupied the land belonging to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Kohima. The district administration team led by the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), Sardar, Chonpenthung Ezung, carried out the eviction drive at the Assembly Secretariat staff quarter area. He was accompanied by other officers, dobashis, and Kohima police. Ezung later told journalists that the eviction drive was carried out against “illegal occupation” of the public property by encroachers, adding the area belonged to Nagaland Legislative Assembly. “We have received a report from the revenue officer’s office, and accordingly, Kohima deputy commissioner detailed us to evict the illegal occupants

Wokha, Peren and Niuland bid farewell to DCs

Dimapur, June 12 (EMN): Wokha, Peren and Niuland districts have bade farewell to their respective outgoing deputy commissioners and other administrative officers, who were transferred and allotted other assignments. The Wokha district planning and development board (DPDB) bade farewell to its outgoing deputy commissioner, Orenthung Lotha; ADC Lankonsen T Tsanglao; and SDO (C) Chonpenthung Ezung and Wanmei Phom during a programme held in the DC’s conference hall in Wokha town on June 9. Speaking on the occasion, Orenthung stated that he was privileged to serve his own people and attributed all the achievements to the support and cooperation from all sections. He thanked the legislators of the district for reposing faith on him to work with his own people. He has particularly thanked the advisor of Law and Justice, Dr. Chumben Murry, for his constant support to the administration during difficult times.
