Tradition a driving force for Stars in Limestone Classic tourney – WBIW

December 20, 2020 BNL senior Jenna Louden and the 4A No.7 Stars will face Forest Park in the morning round of the Limestone Classic on Tuesday. By Justin Sokeland WBIW.com BEDFORD – Anyone who has walked through the hallway where the state championship team photos adorn the walls, anyone who has stared up at the banners waving softly in the northeast corner of BNL Fieldhouse, knows the impact of Austin “Pete” Pritchett. He’s the Godfather of Bedford North Lawrence basketball, the Hall of Fame coach, the giant gentleman who directed the Stars to two state championships and established the program as one of Indiana’s best. Everything linked to the tradition of BNL centers on the bear of a man who towered over his kids and demanded their best.

BNL to cold-start the engine for road test with Madison – WBIW

December 17, 2020 BNL senior Irye Gomez will be back in action when the Stars, who have not practiced this week, visit Madison for a key HHC showdown on Saturday afternoon. By Justin Sokeland WBIW.com BEDFORD – Cold starts, particularly in the chill of winter, can cause engine damage. While it’s usually unavoidable, it’s not recommended. Best to let the oil circulate before taking off. Bedford North Lawrence, after a week without practice because of a school-mandated shutdown of all extracurricular activities, will restart it high-octane basketball engine on Saturday afternoon, hitting the road to face Madison. This is not the best-case scenario, but in this virus-dictated world, it’s unavoidable. The No.7 Stars haven’t played since the 62-37 victory over Seymour on Dec. 9, and they haven’t been on the court at all this week. But away they go to a big Hoosier Hills Conference showdown between two of the league frontrunners.

A Mc-Knight to remember as Stars honor seniors, smack Seymour – WBIW

December 10, 2020 BNL’s Chloe McKnight looks for an opening teammate during Thursday’s HHC clash with Seymour. McKnight scored 20 points and became the eighth player in program history to reach 1,000 career points during the 62-37 win over the Owls. By Justin Sokeland WBIW.com BEDFORD – Chloe McKnight really didn’t want to wait one more game to make history. And as her senior teammate discovered, sitting at home under virus quarantine, that might never come. One more is not guaranteed any more. Carpe diem. McKnight seized the day, becoming the eighth player in Bedford North Lawrence history to score 1,000 career points, as the No.7 Stars celebrated a premature Senior Night – minus one – with a memorable victory over Seymour.

BNL to honor seniors, face Seymour in key HHC clash – WBIW

By Justin Sokeland WBIW.com BEDFORD – Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures, and 2020 certainly qualifies. That’s why, in case the worst should happen, Bedford North Lawrence will honor its best earlier than normal. Normal? What’s that now? Rather than tempt Fate and wait until the traditional home finale in late January to celebrate the six seniors on the roster, the Stars will fast-forward the annual observance for the team elders to Thursday night. The seventh-ranked Stars (7-1) will face Seymour (4-3) in an important Hoosier Hills Conference clash, but for a brief time that will be overshadowed as the senior class of Chloe McKnight, Irye Gomez, Jenna Louden, Haley Deckard, Makena Moore and Grace Kinser take their bows.
