Sanford Slams Senior Night Win

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Juneau-Douglas Yadaa.at Kalé senior Brooke Sanford charged a Ketchikan serve from the back row, put a perfect pass about mid-bleacher height to junior Carlynn Casperson, then launched herself, right arm cocked, into the air five feet from the net and terminated her final career high school home court point to give the Crimson Bears a Senior Night match win, three sets to one, over the visiting Lady Kings.

Crimson Bears Walk Off With State Softball Championship

Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) - Senior JoJo Griggs hit a double with the bases loaded, scoring senior Mackenzie Jackson and freshman Chloe Casperson, to give the Juneau-Douglas High School Yadaa.at Kalé Crimson Bears softball team an inning shortened, 16-4, walk-off win over the North Pole Patriots for the 2021 ASAA/First National Bank Alaska State Softball Championship, Saturday, at Anchorage’s Cartee Fields.

High School Softball Teams Ready But Tournament Cancelled

(Klas Stolpe) Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Juneau-Douglas and Thunder Mountain High School softball teams are ready for action, but their season opening tournament in Sitka was cancelled Thursday due to weather.   Neither team could fly out of Juneau, while Ketchikan had to overhead on to Anchorage and then back home.   The Sitka tournament, which was scheduled for Friday and Saturday, was to be “pool play” format. In a pool play tournament, each day would only count as one game towards a team’s 22-match game limit. That meant JDHS, TMHS, Ketchikan and Sitka each could have played three 65-minute time limit games a day.
