BARABANKI/BALLIA/CHANDIGARH: Punjab s home department has asked the Uttar Pradesh government to take custody of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari from the Rupnagar jail on April 8, with BSP MP Afzal Ansari on Sunday saying that his brother s safety is now the responsibility of the judiciary and the Yogi Adityanath dispensation.
The police team that will bring Muktar Ansari to Uttar Pradesh will leave from Banda for Punjab on Monday, a senior police official said.
Mukhtar Ansari, who is wanted in various cases in Uttar Pradesh, has been lodged in the Rupnagar district jail in Punjab since January 2019 in connection with an alleged extortion case.

DRDO s base camp at Chitrakoot Range in Deoghar, Jharkhand, bore the brunt of a lack of coordination between the forest and irrigation departments.
The DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation) was supposed to get a smooth water supply from the Trikut Jalashay Yojana, which was unveiled in 2015. Unfortunately, the scheme remains merely on paper and could not be executed even after five years following a communication gap. The DRDO is reportedly engaging in correspondence with the Jharkhand government to address the issue.
The Trikut Jalashay Yojna (reservoir) was planned for the Chitrakut fall by building a dam to facilitate irrigation on 280 hectares of land and to prioritize supply water to the DRDO base camp. However, the plan remains on paper and not even a single brick has been added to the project in five years.
