LONDON (Reuters) - Myanmar’s ambassador to London told Reuters he was locked out of the embassy on Wednesday, with sources saying his deputy had shut him out of the building and taken charge on behalf of the military.
The military seized power in Myanmar in a coup in February and have cracked down on pro-democracy protesters.
London ambassador Kyaw Zwar Minn has broken ranks with the ruling junta in recent weeks, calling for the release of detained civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
“I have been locked out,” he told Reuters outside the embassy in central London.

LONDON (Reuters) -Myanmar’s ousted ambassador to the United Kingdom, who has been locked out of his embassy by the military, urged the British government on Thursday to refuse to recognise the junta’s envoys and send them back to Myanmar.
In a move that has implications for Myanmar’s network of diplomats across the world, the ambassador was locked out of his London embassy on Wednesday by his deputy at the behest of the Myanmar military which seized power in February.
“We believe the UK government would not back those who are working for the military junta and we also would like to urge the UK government to send them back,” Ambassador Kyaw Zwar Minn said through his spokesman who read out a statement in English.
Kyaw Zwar Minn s supporters are sleeping with pepper spray by their pillows after he was told to leave the house in Hampstead, north London, by tomorrow or face prosecution.

Myanmarâs ousted ambassador to the UK has said that friends and relatives at home have been forced into hiding after the countryâs military regime removed him from office for declaring his loyalty to the deposed civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
In his first major interview after he was unceremoniously locked out of the embassy by his deputy last week, Kyaw Zwar Minn said he no longer felt safe at his north London residence and had contacted the police after members of his former staff delivered a letter ordering him to move out by Thursday.
