refugee plan. it funds his climate change agenda. i think some gop voters are feeling like they got rolled over again, congressman. well, a lot of the information that you hear is in fact not correct. this wasn t a grand deal by any means. the fact of the matter is that in the bill that was passed, it was about $1.1 trillion in spending for the next fiscal year, which is less than the spending that occurred in 2008 on the discretionary side. so we continued the republican congress continued to keep spending at a low level compared to past. we got some good things in it. we got a repeal of the oil export ban, which is really incredibly important. we did hold the reins on both the epa and irs. these are good things that had to happen. was it everything that everybody wa wanted? no. it is a step in the right direction and incredibly important is that lower spending level that in 2008 most people don t appreciate that, that hasn t been reported by the news to a significant degree, but
russia, there s still a challenge of getting things to move through capitol hill. and right now, republicans and democrats are at odds over particular provisions related to the imf, correct? right. basically the white house wanted to include, along with $1 billion in aid to the ukraine. they also wanted to include changes in the imf in how it funds, how it helps developing nations in part to help the ukraine. but to republicans, imf is code for international bailout. that s the code they ve used repeatedly. the imf funding is included in the senate bill, not included in the house bill. i do think, krystal, this will be resolved in the next week or so. but it goes to the fact that every issue that hits capitol hill becomes divisive when it shouldn t. there was a piece in the wall street journal that caught my attention. it was reporting that the u.s. intelligence officials are now rushing to expand our satellite coverage and strengthen our ability to intercept communication in bot
