THE Government has underscored its commitment to consolidate the country’s role as a regional and continental trade facilitation hub by committing to immediately start work on a 40-kilometre road stretch leading up to Chirundu Border Post.

SOME members of staff at a private laboratory, Klosad Clinical Diagnostics Lab, in Harare’s Avondale suburb, are issuing out certificates with fake negative Covid-19 results to international travellers without going through the testing process, investigations by our Harare Bureau have revealed.
The corrupt syndicate is producing the fake Covid-19 certificates at a price of US$45 each instead of the recommended US$65 charged by most institutions for a legitimate Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test that is a prerequisite 48 hours before international travel.
Our Harare Bureau received a tip-off and embarked on a week-long investigation to confirm and expose the illicit activity that is hampering efforts to fight Covid-19 which is ravaging the country.

Covid-19 is worsening by the day with no easy solution in sight. The world is in a quandary with the traditional superpowers being the greatest casualties in the world. The US has lost more than 317 000 people followed by Brazil, which saw around 185 000 of its citizens losing their precious lives. Zimbabwe has recorded about 316 deaths with total number of official cases being around 11 700 cases. The so-called smaller countries have proven their mettle in containing the spread of Covid-19.
Covid-19 control does not need people who have egotistical behaviour. All players who are involved directly or indirectly in Covid-19 control should have proclivity for a healthy nation and should therefore be for the people. Being driven by self-centeredness is not only detrimental to personal health but to the well being of the nation in general.
