The cash-strapped Amathole district municipality is finally leaving its fancy multimillion-rand offices in Chiselhurst. The lease at the Chiselhurst offices lapses at the end of February. The municipality has occupied the offices since 2014. The lease was criticised because the offices are outside ADM’s area.

The owner and staff of an East London garden service company have been praised after recovering two of Olympic legend Joan Harrison’s stolen medals from a gutter in Southernwood. Harrison, later Joan Breetzke, became an international hero when she won the 100m backstroke event at the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki, Finland, as a 16-year-old.
