JACKSON, MI – Denise and Bess are just two of the many animals at the Cascade Humane Society that are looking for loving forever homes.
Denise is a sweet girl who came here from another rescue, so not a lot is known about her – just that she may not have had the best start in life, but you would never know it based on her personality.
Denise is 5-year-old Chinese Shar-Pei and pit bull terrier mix who is pretty calm and enjoys people’s company. She recently hung out with some Cascades Humane Society volunteers and spent a considerable amount of time licking the volunteer’s daughter’s face. She likely would be a great family dog.
Entries poured in, with dogs, cats, guinea pigs and rabbits all being nominated. It was then up to our readers to vote for the winning pet – and much-loved canine Ted can now be named as ‘top dog.’ The Chinese Shar-Pei’s owner, Stacey Murney, wins the £300 prize after he received the most votes. Stacey, who is mum to 12-year-old son Ashton, revealed how her pampered pet is lovingly known as ‘Tripaw Ted,’ due to his missing leg. “We got Ted when he was an eight-week-old puppy,” she said. “He lost a leg after he was run over by a van in October, so it is quite a recent event.
Adopting From The West Valley Humane Society Changed My Life
Three weeks ago a little angel came into my life. Her name is Mila and she s a three year old Chinese Shar-pei / Pitbull mix. I m very much obsessed with her as evident by the hundreds of pictures of her in my camera roll.
I ve adopted, in fact, all of my pets growing up from different humane societies. I ve always been a supporter of choosing to adopt rather than shop but adopting Mila has fulfilled me in a way that I ve never felt before.
I was expecting at least a little bit of chaos when I brought Mila home because quite frankly, you never know what you re getting to get. But I ve never met such a sweet and well-behaved dog. She listens, she does amazing on the leash and is house-trained, and she loves snuggles.
A fighting dog with ancient origins, the Shar Pei has developed into a companion animal, fueled by the overwhelming cuteness of their signature wrinkles.
