The alliance was initiated by the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences (CACMS) in cooperation with the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies, and the China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is designed to pool global talent from medical, scientific and educational institutions as well as the industrial sector and academic associations for cooperation on mechanisms for prevention and treatment of major infectious diseases, research and development of medicines, clinical research and the promotion of diagnosis and treatment protocols, according to Yang Longhui, deputy Communist Party chief of CACMS.
