A judge in Houston on Tuesday confirmed Superior Energy Services’ plan to reorganize the company by putting unsecured noteholders in control.
During a remote hearing, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge David Jones in Houston said he would confirm the oilfield services provider’s plan, which had been met with opposition from oil companies including Chevron USA, Arena Energy, Marathon Oil and Hess Corporation.

A Texas judge on Friday extended CBL & Associates Properties’ protection against ongoing litigation during its bankruptcy to certain of the mall operator’s directors and officers for 90 days while also expressing concern about the outcome of the case.
During a remote hearing, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge David Jones in Houston ruled that the directors and officers will be exempt from a securities lawsuit against CBL for the 90-day period so they can fully focus their energies on completing the Chapter 11 process.

A former UPS employee claims in a proposed class action lawsuit that the company created a public nuisance by failing to protect workers in California against the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The lawsuit was originally filed in California state court on Oct. 30 but was removed to federal court in San Francisco on Wednesday at the request of UPS, which is represented by Rachel Brass of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.
