Role in the middle east given all of the very exciting news that seems to happen every single day. We are here. David shanker, a good, old friend of mine will share with us his great and unmatched wisdom about the u. S. Policy in the region. Let me give you a little background on david. He was sworn in as the assistant secretary of state for near Eastern Affairs. June 14th of this year. Prior to joining the department of state, he was director of the program on arab politics at the Washington Institute for near east policy from 2000
