Chinese President Xi Jinping says that Beijing and the European Union should uphold a "comprehensive strategic partnership" in his meeting with leaders of the regional bloc, according to the country's Foreign Ministry.
Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday met with top EU officials in Beijing and stressed that China and the EU should be partners for mutually beneficial cooperation, strengthen two-way political trust, build strategic consensus, cement the bonds of shared interest, eliminate various kinds of interference, and jointly tackle global challenges.
The actual state of China-EU relations is better than that portrayed by Western public opinion, which is a common phenomenon. It shows that the negative aspects of China-EU relations or the disagreements between the two sides have been amplified by the media, while the positive aspects and consensus have been ignored or underestimated.
