Police search wooded area in West Sussex after human skull discovered

Updated Sunday, 31st January 2021, 3:08 pm A bone – believed to be a human skull – was found by workmen near a layby on the B2141 in Chilgrove, near Chichester, at 12.35pm on Thursday 28 January, according to police. Searching of the area will continue over the next few days, and any remains recovered will be subject to specialist examinations and testing. Suspected human remains found near Chichester

SUSPECTED human remains have been found near Chichester for the second time in a week. A search operation has been launched following the discovery near a layby on the B2141 at Chilgrove yesterday afternoon. Half of the road has been blocked off using police tape and cones today, and two tents have been set up at the scene. There are a large number of officers assisting with the search efforts, with several seen holding rakes. Suspected human remains have been found on the B2141 at Chilgrove, near Chichester Forensic specialists are also at the scene. A Sussex Police spokesman said: Police were alerted to the discovery of suspected human remains near a layby on the B2141 near Chilgrove, Chichester at 12.35pm yesterday.

Police investigate after human SKULL found - the third set of remains found in Sussex since November

Police search teams are combing an area of rural Sussex after a human skull was uncovered in a roadside copse. The discovery is the third of its kind in as many months after human bones were found in West Wittering last Sunday and in Lewes in November. Skull found off B2141 near Chichester

A MAJOR search has been launched after suspected human remains thought to be a skull were found near a layby. The shocking discovery off the B2141 at Chilgrove is the second time suspected human remains have been found near Chichester in the past seven days. Sussex Police were “alerted to the discovery of suspected human remains” shortly after 12.30pm yesterday and officers quickly made their way to the scene. The road was blocked off with police tape and cones as the force launched an investigation. A skull was found off the B2141 near Chichester They scoured the area surrounding where the discovery was made, with onlookers describing “major efforts” involving several officers carrying rakes.
