The Children's Resource Network of the Central Coast is working with the CHP to collect and distribute toys for local families in need as part of the annual CHiPs for Kids toy drive.
District students and incoming transitional kindergarten children received information, health care, clothes, and school supplies Saturday in time for back to school in Santa Maria.
The non-profit partnered with the California Highway Patrol and the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office to hand out free toys, bikes and essential supplies to community members.
