Travis Varble, 44, was set to go to trial on multiple felony counts on March 22 when he agreed to plead guilty to one count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. Circuit Judge Kyle Napp oversaw the proceedings. “This plea ensures Varble will be incarcerated into his 80’s,” said Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Haine in a written statement. “It also prevents the further victimization of the minor in this matter, ensuring that she does not have to come into court to testify or present evidence of her graphic sexual assaults to the public.
