1 of 2 Study: Hand sanitizers hurting children`s eyes A study has found that hand sanitisers have caused more eye-related injury incidents in children since the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic. In a study published in the journal JAMA Ophthalmology on January 21, researchers found that hand sanitisers have caused more chemical eye injuries to children who accidently used it in their eyes. According to data from the French Poison Control Center, the researchers have found seven times more cases of children hurting their eyes due to exposure to hazardous chemicals in the sanitiser between April 1 and August 24, 2020 when compared to the same period the previous year.
