Now after months of unrelenting coverage of obamacares many problems and after fridays release of decembers dismal jobs report, im sure democrats here in the senate would prefer that we talk about almost anything else. After all, when you have held most of the power in washington here for the last five years, you dont want to mention the fact that your main legacy is a sluggish economy and a disastrous train wreck of a health care program. This past friday, we found out that december marked the weakest month of job growth since january of 2011. The economy added just 74,000 jobs in december, less than half of the monthly job growth needed for a real recovery
Congress is back in session today. The house gavels in at noon eastern for general speeches. 2 00 eastern for legislative work. The senate is also back at 2 00 p. M. Here is a preview of the week ahead on the hill. We want to take a step back and talk more broadly about congress. It is going to be a busy week. Is on therowicz phone. He is a reporter with the hill. Thanks for joining us. Budget us about the first. Weve been waiting for the larger omnibus spending bill to be unveiled. Is that happened has that happened yet . And has not as of last night. That is the big mission of the week for congress. They will have to do it in two stages. They will have to pass a short term bill through saturday and that will give them time to wrestle through the giant, a little bit more than 1 trillion spending bill, for the rest of the year. It seems like theres is a lot of agreement just to do it that way. And then that will fund it and give them three or four days to figure out the spending bill.
Talk about the issues that they care about and mobilize them as well. Great question. Right here. Im the executive director of the dakota support foundation which is dedicated to a civilian military. My question is more about culture, as opposed to policy. I ended up being a Military Spouse which was a Culture Shock for everybody involved. But, if you had mentioned kind of the pushback we get from other women. My experience was interesting coming into the military and when i was trying to raise some of the issues seeing the military families. A lot of the pushback i was getting was from the other spouses either on the group and i ended up writing an article for the Washington Post and it was the same thing. 90 were thank you for saying something that the ones i did get that for pushing back were from some of the older Military Spouses and retired and the problem wasnt that i was wrong that i had said something publicly.
