The subtitle for about 15 to 20 minutes after that, we will sit down and have a conversation at Columbia University at 5 30 then we will look at the book but hes produced and have the opportunity to defend himself and then we will take questions from the audience and follow the same procedure. Do you want to go first . Thanks for the introduction and for inviting me to this panel. The book everybody lies is about five years of research ive been doing. So i will describe what it is. For the last 80 years, if you want to know what people want, why people do the things they do and what people are going to do, you have basically one main approach. You ask them if you can talk to the survey said they will go out and ask people questions. And there is a problem in this approach which is people tend to lie to surveys to make t
[applause] in my role today i am wearing two hats one as the director for human rights of children, and the cochair of the newly appointed committee of students of layla. I want to provide a bit of context as to why we invited everyone here faculty, students, staff and a few members of our community here today. Please let me know if im speaking too quickly because i would love to get through this so you can hear everyone. The issue is face today are intrinsically linked to human rights and childrens rights. It promotes the notion that children are not passive objects of carer were Charity Societies and governments have the ability to protect the social and political and civil rights. This includes the right to be safe him of the right to education and the right to family. This right to the framework is also tied to the social justice with bedrock principles being one of acceptance and affirming dignity of all persons. the state this summer due to the investigations and now she s thinking about moving up the date for their move even sooner. this really adds to the uncertainty for families and they re feeling afraid again. so walk me through the directive from governor abbott here. i mean, for families like this, is this going to get is this directive completely thrown out? what s going to be the next step in these investigations? my understanding is the individual family involved in this lawsuit their part is over, the court has said they can t be further targeted? so that suit hasn t been thrown out. okay. the investigation into that family is still blocked, it s the only one that the court is allowing to be blocked, that legal battle will continue through the courts so that family is still going to keep continue that legal battle but what s going to happen with these other investigations is totally unclear because the court did say that governor abbott and the attorney general don t nec
