After Aliyah Barse entered the world March 9, 2020, there wasn’t the flurry of activity that usually follows the birth of a baby. It was just days before “the world shut down for COVID,” recalled Nicole Hudson, who had Aliyah at Thompson Hospital.
While there, Nicole remembered her mom telling her about all the people scrambling to buy toilet paper.
“I couldn’t believe it,” said Nicole. It sounded so crazy. But after bringing Aliyah home, the reality of the pandemic set in. Hudson and Aliyah’s dad, Zach Barse, didn’t want to put anyone at risk. So having people over, even grandparents to enjoy the new baby and help out, was out of the question.
