Police charge man with child exploitation offences
Following a protracted investigation, members from Tasmania Police’s High Risk Child Exploitation Unit yesterday arrested a 23-year-old Launceston man and charged him with 11 counts of Involve a Person Under 18 Years in the Production of Child Exploitation Material and one count of Possess Child Exploitation Material.
Police allege that over the course of almost two years the man had contacted children across Australia and in the United States and coerced them to produce Child Exploitation Material in the form of images and video of themselves. It is alleged the images were then electronically sent to the man.

Subscriber only A CAIRNS man facing dozens of child exploitation material offences - some shockingly linked to infant children - has been denied bail after a magistrate ruled the matters were far too serious to even consider his release. Michael Stephen Warren, 35, was charged in November last year with a total of 59 offences after police raided his Edge Hill residence and seized various devices.
A man from Camden County has been arrested for possessing and sending images of child sexual exploitation.
Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill Mayer and Cherry Hill Police Chief William Monaghan say 18-year-old Matthew Porch of Cherry Hill has been charged with one count of second-degree Distribution of Child Exploitation Material and one count of third-degree Possession of Child Exploitation Material.
Detectives from the High-Tech Crimes Unit (HTCU), Cherry Hill Police Department, and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) – Cherry Hill Office as well as the New Jersey State Police Electronics Detection K-9 went to Porch’s home on the unit block of Eddy Lane on April 30. Detectives were led there following a report that someone inside the home was allegedly receiving and distributing sexual images of underage girls.

Subscriber only A man who bought three life-like child sex dolls from China has been given a two-year suspended jail sentence, with immediate release. The dolls depicted real children aged, four, five and eight to 10 years, Brisbane District Court heard. Terry John Dunnett, 46, today pleaded guilty to attempted possession of a child sex doll, two counts of possession of a child sex doll and possession of child exploitation material. It is the first time a Queensland person has been convicted and sentenced for possession of child sex dolls since new laws came into effect in 2019, as part of the Federal Government s Combatting Child Sexual Exploitation Legislation.
We read the criminal code, the definition of CEM, Det Sen-Constable Clinton Stewart told the court. Speaking outside court, Cairns police Child Protection and Investigation Unit boss Sen-Sgt Mick Gooiker said they only planned to use these type of charges for more serious matters but parents and children needed to realise the potential dire consequences of improper mobile phone use. We re asking parents to talk to kids about the ramifications of doing things like this, he said. And obviously how these types of videos are posted in the public domain are incredibly traumatic to the victim. We certainly have the scope to use these charges again.
