Ottawa police charge man in connection to historical sexual assaults involving children

  OTTAWA A 61-year-old Ottawa man is facing charges in connection to alleged historical sexual assaults involving children dating back 35 years. The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit launched an investigation in 2017 into alleged incidents involving a teenage girl between 1984 and 1990. That led police to open another investigation into the same suspect, involving three alleged incidents between 1993 and 2000 involving a girl under the age of 10. Gerald Bruyere of Ottawa is charged with nine counts of sexual assault, four counts of gross indecency, two counts of indecent exposure, five counts of sexual interference, one count of sexual touching and one count of exposure to person under 14.

Ottawa police charge man in connection to historical sexual assaults on children

  OTTAWA A 57-year-old Ottawa man is facing charges in connection to historical sexual assaults on children involving children under the age of 10, and Ottawa police say they are concerned there may be other victims. In August, the Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section launched an investigation into an alleged incident that occurred in 1998 involving a young girl. Police say as a result of this investigation, a 1985 investigation by Ottawa police was reopened involving another young girl and the same man. Investigators found that both incidents occurred at the man s home with children who were between four and 10 years-old at the time, police said in a media release Thursday afternoon.

  The Ottawa Police Service is asking for the public’s assistance in locating missing 9-month-old Magnolia (Maggie) Knox who was taken by her mother Sherma Knox. They were last seen at 12:08 in the area of Lebreton Street North and Booth Street on foot. Sherma was carrying Maggie in her arms. There are concerns for their safety. Sherma is described as a 39 year old black woman, 5’7” (170cm) 200 lbs (91kg). She was last seen wearing grey pants, long black parka, black mesh shoes, tuque and a beige backpack. She has finger nails painted purple with sparkles.  (See photo) Maggie was wearing a striped blue, red and pink shirt, navy colored leggings, pink onesie, floral dress and tan slip-on shoes. Ottawa Police Issue Amber Alert For Missing Baby

An Amber Alert was issued by police for Magnolia (Maggie) Knox on Friday, just after 3 p.m. Police say the mother, Sherma Knox, and her child were last seen at 12:08 p.m. in the area of Lebreton Street North and Booth Street, just west of downtown Ottawa. There are concerns about their safety. Sherma (39) is described as black, standing 5’7”, weighing around 200 pounds. She was last seen wearing grey pants, a long black parka, black mesh shoes, a tuque, and a beige backpack. Meanwhile, Maggie was wearing a striped blue, red and pink shirt, navy-coloured leggings, pink onesie, floral dress, and tan slip-on shoes.
