Four friends were killed when their car fell into a gorge filled with slush and bushes on the outskirts of Karnataka's Chikkaballapur town, on Saturda.
Rail activist and founder Citizens for Citizens (C4C), Rajkumar Dugar, noted that the agents assigned to monitor halt stations are poorly paid (allegedly Rs 1,500 per month) by the SWR, leading to many not taking up the job, leaving halt stations unmanned. He further said that agents have massive responsibilities like investing their own money to purchase ticketing systems, maintenance and monitoring among other aspects.
The Karnataka government has signed an MoU with Nippon Industrial Fastener Corporation (NIFCO) for the establishment of a new automotive plastic components manufacturing plant in Gauribidanur, with an investment of Rs 288 crore. The plant, to be set up by NIFCO South India Manufacturing, is expected to employ about 400 people, with a focus on hiring 65% women.
