The regulator should ease the application process for social welfare benefits for people without a savings account at a state-owned financial institution, Democratic Progressive Party Legislator Mark Ho (何志偉) told a news conference at the legislature in Taipei yesterday. The Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) is considering adding climate action and animal rights issues to its policy platform for the first time, as it prepares to debate KMT Chairman Eric Chu’s (朱立倫) proposed policy guidelines during its National Congress on Saturday, a source said.
