Ready to feed around 400 people, the Ainsworth Fire Department is hosting a drive-through biscuits and gravy breakfast Sunday.
Fire Chief Waylon Schultz says they will be serving from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a free will donation. He says they haven’t set a fundraising goal, but events in 2020 did well for them, “Any time we do a fundraiser we try to make what we can. All the proceeds will go right back into fire equipment. We just bought a pickup to use for a grass truck and that was all 100% paid for from donations received through our soup supper. We sell fireworks in the summertime as well, so we raised quite a bit of money that way to upgrade the (grass) truck and that was all from donations from folks around the community and surrounding area.”
With COVID-19 safety in mind the annual soup supper fundraiser for the Ainsworth Fire Department will be a drive- through event.
Fire Chief Waylon Schultz says people interested in enjoying chili or potato soup can come to the fire station Saturday between 4:30 and 7:30 pm with no pre-order necessary, “People just drive through, it’s freewill donation, we’ll have somebody outside to take your order, they’ll see how many people they have (in their car), see how many chili, how many potato soups they want. We’ll bag it up and take it to their vehicle and they can go home and enjoy some nice soup and then drive through town and check out the Christmas lights.”
