At Tuesday’s Indiana Borough Council planning session, council received their mid-year report from Police Chief Justin Schawl.
Schawl did note that in 2020, the number of calls for service did go up during the Covid-19 Pandemic, but Chief Schawl said that the spike was attributed to the number of safety checks performed by police.
Schawl expects call numbers to be back to pre-pandemic levels this year.
Schawl also commented on the National Night Out event held before the meeting. Schawl was happy with the turnout of the event, and it was a good chance to build police-community relationships.
