A former senator from Abia State and one-time state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Emma Nwaka, has said that Nigeria’s democracy has experienced major setbacks.
The Streetjournal Magazine is an online investigating media house that specializes on systematic, serious crimes, political corruption or corporate wrongdoing.
According to him, without a credible election, democracy is in danger.
“If we have gotten our election right by now, ADC would have formed governments in Oyo, Ogun and Adamawa states.
“ADC would have a minimum of 20 Senators and over 100 members in House of Representatives.
“But INEC is still not credible in the conduct of election in Nigeria. Election is part of the problems in our democracy.
“We embarked on this journey 22 years ago. By now, we supposed to have crossed the hurdle of conducting credible election and getting a responsible government. Unfortunately, we have not.
According to him, the country is facing security challenges because of bad leadership resulting from the fraudulent election processes.
