The ruling All Progressives’ Congress (APC) is yet to set a date for its national convention to elect national officers to steer the affairs of the largest party in Africa. These officers are members of the National Working Committee (NWC), the highest decision-making organ of the party after the National convention and National Executive Committee (NEC).
Also, no word has yet come from the party on where the respective NWC officers would come from. But there is a good chance of the zoning formula coming to play.

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, our party, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will have a new national chairman in June this year, if not earlier. And typical of the trend in contemporary politicking in Nigeria, some party members, comprising the good, the bad and the ugly have started jockeying for this post.
Notable among these early campaigners are former governor of my state, Nasarawa, and now senator representing Nasarawa South, Alhaji Umaru Tanko Al-Makura; former Zamfara State governor, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari; a former Borno State governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff; former governor of Gombe State who now represents Gombe Central in the Senate, Senator Danjuma Goje, and former Benue State governor, Mr. George Akume.

The All Progressives Congress Caretaker/ Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee has inaugurated an eight-member committee to review its constitution.
National Secretary of the APCECPC, James Akpan Udoedehe, inaugurated the team which has Professor Tahir Mamman, (SAN) as Chairman. It has a one-month timeline to submit its recommendations.
Tribune Online checks revealed that a similar Committee led by a former National Legal Adviser, Muiz Banire, was saddled with a similar assignment by a former national chairman, Chief Odigie Oyegun in 2017.
Further checks revealed that while submitting the report of his 10-man Committee, Banire who incidentally served in the APC National Working Committee under Chief Oyegun told newsmen that his Committee proposed 85 amendments to the APC Constitution.
