Manitoba’s health-care system is on the brink of being overwhelmed, says the head of Shared Health, which coordinates clinical care in the province.
The strain on the critical care system due to high volumes of new patients, low volumes of existing patients being moved out of intensive care, and lack of adequate staffing for beds in the province has led the province to enact several contingency plans, Chief Nursing Officer Lanette Siragusa said during a press conference at the Manitoba Legislature.
“Our health system is on the brink over being overwhelmed, the contingency plans are being triggered and people are tired,” Siragusa said, pleading with Manitobans to limit their interactions, whether they are vaccinated or not. “Do these things to reduce the strain on our health-care system.
