Valdosta Police Department sees increase in calls, decrease in crime in 2020

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) â The Valdosta Police Department responded to more calls in 2020, but saw a significant decline in crime in the same year, according to statistics from VPD.
VPD said in a press release Wednesday that crime is down more than 20 percent for part one crimes, including violent and property crimes.
The crime statistics released by VPD are as followed:
There were 73,920 calls for service, a two percent increase from 2019
There were 2,313 part one crimes (violent and property crimes) reflective of a 26 percent decrease from 2019
