The Grand Rapids Police Department is receiving a lot of backlash after a social media post announcing its Clergy on Patrol program.
GRPD announced the program by posting photos of clergy members using tasers as part of a training session.
The post received over 1,200 angry reactions with hundreds commenting criticism.
Deputy Chief Kristen Rogers says the faith leaders will not be armed or acting as law enforcement as part of the program.
Rogers says the use of force training was so the clergy were prepared for what they may encounter while on patrol.
