(MURFREESBOFO) The Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department first female captain and first female assistant chief is retiring after 33 years of dedicated service to the department and the City of Murfreesboro.
Assistant Chief Kaye Jernigan began her career with MFRD in November 1988. She rose through the ranks as a firefighter, driver, captain, and assistant chief.

The City of Madison could soon join Huntsville in having a committee that will act as conduit between its police department and its residents.
On Wednesday evening, the city council heard a proposal for the Madison Police Citizens Advisory Council (MPCAC).
David Little, one of the members of the Huntsville Police Citizens Advisory Council (HPCAC) said he spoke with former Madison Police Chief David Jernigan about the initiative over the summer.

MADISON, Ala. (WAFF) - The Madison Police Department is set to receive COVID-19 vaccinations on Wednesday.
According to the Department’s Twitter, Police Chief David Jernigan received the Moderna vaccine around 8:30 a.m. on December 30.

On Wednesday our crews sat down with him to find out about his accomplishments while working for the city, and what he feels his challenges were.
Chief Dave Jernigan said he went into law enforcement because of the hero in his life; his father. Now, his fatherâs shadow box sits on his office shelf as a reminder to always do his best to protect the community.
