Seven businesses issued warning letters for non-compliance with Covid-19 protocols

Businesses in Antigua and Barbuda have been largely compliant to the mandatory Covid-19 restrictions being imposed by the government, but according to the Chief Health Inspector, there is still room for improvement.
At present all establishments are required to ensure that patrons and staff adhere to the Covid-19 protocols to include social distancing, mask wearing, and handwashing.
Chief Health Inspector Sharon Martin shared with Observer that some establishments “have gone out of their way to make the effort to comply while others are still lagging behind”.

The Cabinet met for more than seven continuous hours, six members using virtual means and seven meeting face-to-face. The Cabinet, as is customary, invited experts and officials to its weekly meeting in order to assist in enhancing decision-making.

Number of newly infected Covid-19 patients is higher than recoveries
The new cases of coronavirus infection in this country are 883 after 10,541 tests performed, according to the latest data from the Single Coronavirus Information Portal. Positive samples reached 8.3%. Most of the new cases are in the capital city - 226, followed by Plovdiv with 67 and Burgas with 63 cases.
There are 20,545 active Covid-19 cases. 3,033 patients are being treated in hospitals. 277 patients are in intensive care. 54 people passed away in the past day. 780 people have recovered. For the first time in a month, the number of newly infected per day exceeds the number of recoveries.
