Today, Spana – the Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad – celebrates 100 years of supporting the welfare of working animals. It was the world’s first global charity dedicated to working animals in low-income countries.

Plastic pollution is one of many environmental problems putting working equines and other animals at severe risk – alongside climate change, drought and natural disasters, such as cyclones and flooding.
