That has been the case for around 50 years with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office. Alabama poultry worker killed by co-worker shooting at stray chickens, authorities say Updated Dec 22, 2020; A 51-year-old Alabama man was shot to death in a Covington County chicken house ever the weekend. Covington County sheriff’s officials on Tuesday identified the victim as Robin Early Phillips. Investigators with the sheriff’s office and the district attorney’s office responded about 4 p.m. Sunday the poultry farm in the Friendship community, said Chief Deputy Todd Grimes. When they arrived on the scene, they found the victim, who lived in Elba, dead. Grimes said the shooting happened inside a structure that housed thousands of chickens. The investigation showed that one of the victim’s co-workers was shooting at stray chickens located underneath a subfloor in the poultry house. Phillips was underneath the subfloor removing dead chickens at the time of the incident.
