WARRIOR – A Sylacauga teen died Monday night in a single-vehicle crash in Warrior.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Isaiah Dylan Foster Guess. He was 18.
According to a report from Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates, Guess was a passenger in a vehicle that lost control and struck at tree while attempting to pass another vehicle in the 400 block of Warrior-Trafford Road in Warrior. Authorities believe the accident took place at 6:20 p.m. Monday.
Guess was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:38 p.m.
The cause and circumstances surrounding the crash are being investigated by the Warrior Police Department.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office reported three more suspected overdose deaths in Jefferson County Tuesday night. This comes in addition to three women who died of suspected overdoses in the Center Point area Monday.
Jefferson County’s Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates says the county hit a record 302 drug overdoses in 2020, a 28% increase from 2019. He says the culprit is easy to spot.
“In a decedent who dies of an overdose, we’re seeing fentanyl and cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine or fentanyl and heroin” says Yates.
Family sought for 3 who died in Jefferson County in recent weeks

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in finding family members for three people who have died in Jefferson County in recent weeks.
No foul play is suspected in any of the deaths, but their bodies are ready to be released for burial and the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has been unable to locate next of kin to notify them.
Johnnie William Harris
Johnnie William Harris, a 72-year-old Black male, was found dead March 29. Birmingham police went to his apartment in the 7700 block of Third Ave South on a welfare check and found him dead just before 7:30 p.m. He died of natural causes.
Authorities ID woman killed while walking on Leeds train tracks

The woman killed Monday when she was hit by a freight train in Leeds has now been identified.
The crash happened at 11:56 a.m. in a remote area of the city, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates on Wednesday identified the woman as Amber Michelle Wilson. She was 29 and lived in Odenville.
The woman, according to authorities, was walking along the railroad tracks in the 8200 block of Edwards Avenue. Her direction was away from the incoming Norfolk Southern train.
The train rounded a corner and that’s when the engineer spotted the woman. He sounded the horn and other emergency alerts but was unable to stop the train in time.
