The Fayette County Sheriff s Office posted photos of a bittersweet day on their Facebook page Friday.
As the last group of prisoners were moved to the new county jail on Robinson Road late this morning, Sheriff Stanforth and Chief Deputy Bivens are seen locking and posting signage on the doors of the East Market Street facility for the final day of operation at that location, after 136 years (1885-2021).
The Fayette County Sheriff also reported they had become aware that some of the technology that provides the public with jail and inmate information was not functioning properly, and asked the public to please be patient as they work to restore information to public sites.
