+ February 18, 2021 POLICE killed on Wednesday a kidnapping suspect and his cohort in a gunfight in Botolan, Zambales, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Debold Sinas said on Thursday, February 18, 2021.
Michael Corpuz and an unidentified cohort were killed after engaging personnel of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group in a firefight at around 11:20 p.m. on February 17 in Sitio Alao, Barangay San Juan.
The AKG personnel were there to serve arrest warrants against Corpuz, their most wanted person, for three counts of kidnapping for ransom, two counts of child abuse and carnapping.
“Acting on intelligence reports of sighting of the suspect in the area, (the) AKG agents launched an operation to serve a warrant of arrest against Corpuz. However, as the operatives approached, the suspects opened fire triggering a shootout,” said Sinas.

(Contributed/PNP) February 16, 2021 A MAN who claimed a package containing over P4 million worth of ecstasy tablets at the Philpost Central Office in Manila was arrested, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Debold Sinas said on Tuesday, February 16, 2021.
Ronron Salonga, 26, claimed the package on Monday afternoon, February 15, 2021.
It was shipped by a certain Mary Lumbao Edwards from The Netherlands to consignee Susan Lumbao of Malate, Manila. Sinas said Salonga presented an authorization letter from Susan Lumbao.
A total of 2,878 pieces of ecstasy pills, with a standard price of P4,892,600, were recovered among the clothes and shoes in the package.
Salonga will be charged for violation of Section 4, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and RA No.10863, or Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.

+ February 08, 2021 UNIDENTIFIED men threw a grenade in front of the house of Mayor Sylvia Austria of Jaen, Nueva Ecija on Saturday, February 6, 2021, but it did not explode.
Police said surveillance camera footage showed two men on a motorcycle hurled the grenade.
Investigation is ongoing.
In December 2020, the municipal hall of Jaen was rocked by two explosions from improvised explosive devices (IED). No one was hurt in the incident.
These incidents have been traced to the tension caused by the political rivalry between Austria and Antonio Esquivel.
In December, Austria stepped down from post following the decision of the Regional Trial Court Branch 87 in favor of Esquivel s election protest.

+ February 04, 2021 A DRUG convict from Cebu was killed when he allegedly attacked prison and police officials during an inspection in the maximum security compound of San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm in Zamboanga City on Wednesday, February 3, 2021.
Police identified the suspect as Ronald Natividad, 48, from Barangay Calamba in Cebu City.
Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Debold Sinas said Thursday, February 4, that authorities shot Natividad after he tried to stab Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) inspector Ave Akilit at around 9 a.m. Wednesday.
“Reports said Natividad violently resisted the search and attacked BuCor inspector Ave Akilit with a black foldable knife,” Sinas said.
