GLASTONBURY â The Town Council voted, 8-1, on Monday to settle a sex-discrimination lawsuit filed by a woman who was formerly a police sergeant in town but was passed over for promotion to lieutenant in 2016 despite having a scored higher on the promotional examination than the man who was promoted.
The amount of the settlement with the former sergeant, Kristin Shubert, wasnât disclosed during the brief public portion of Mondayâs council meeting, held via teleconference, which followed a separate hour-long teleconference that was closed to the public.
Efforts by the Journal Inquirer to reach Town Council Chairman Thomas P. Gullotta and Town Manager Richard J. Johnson for comment on the amount of the settlement after the meeting werenât immediately successful.
