CANFIELD Wearing what has become a normal part of her outfits, 4-year-old June Carson didn’t think anything of donning her mask Friday. When she walked into the Canfield Giant Eagle with Grandpa Steve Carson, June was met by Canfield officer Brett Modic, who thanked her for wearing her mask. In return, she was handed a stuffed animal of the department’s police dog, Rocky, and a pass for a free tour of the department. “I’m wearing dinosaurs,” she said of her mask. June said she wears a mask all the time in public. The act of recognition is part of a new program stemming from the recently formed COVID Defense Task Force where people in Canfield are given a “flash recognition.”

Jan 11, 2021 A suspect is facing numerous charges after firing a rifle inside a Buckman Neighborhood apartment, sending bullets into neighboring units and causing water damage from a sprinkler destroyed by gunfire. On Sunday, January 10, 2021 at 5:39a.m., Central Precinct officers were dispatched to numerous reports of shots being heard in the 1200 Block of Southeast Morrison Street. When they arrived they heard gunfire coming from the second floor of an apartment building. Officers could hear that fire alarm and sprinkler system had been activated as well. Numerous officers responded to assist and a tactical plan was quickly developed. Officers used a loudspeaker to communicate with the suspect and order him to come out of the unit unarmed. The suspect complied and was taken into custody.

Portland Police respond to three shootings early Sunday morning Allison Mechanic PORTLAND, Ore - Portland police responded to three different shooting scenes within a 24-hour period on Sunday. The different shootings sent two people to the hospital with injuries and brought one person into custody.  No one was seriously injured, but Portland Police Chief Chuck Lovell had this to say about the third shooting in southeast Portland:  It s not clear what this suspect had planned, but the possibilities are chilling, said Chief Chuck Lovell. The officers who responded to this call worked seamlessly in a chaotic environment to resolve what could have been a tragic event. I thank them for their bravery and I m relieved that no one was hurt.
