Gadsden unmasked? Requirements vary in public schools, buildings

Etowah County Schools and Attalla City Schools, starting Monday, are no longer requiring mask wearing on campus. The mask requirement also has been dropped at the Etowah County Courthouse, according to Chief Administrative Officer Shane Ellison. Etowah County superintendent Alan Cosby and Attalla City Superintendent Jeff Colegrove, in announcing the change, said,  We will continue to strongly encourage mask usage when appropriate. The school system leaders stressed personal responsibility, and said anyone who wishes to continue to wear a mask may do so. The systems will continue to monitor case numbers and make adjustments if needed. Last week, Etowah County Schools and Gadsden City School reported fewer than five cases of COVID-19 in their systems; numbers were not available for Attalla City Schools.
