Following the wave of attacks on public institutions across Imo state especially the Imo police headquarters and Owerri correctional centre, on Monday, the Elders of Imo, yesterday offered their advice on how the government of Imo state, as well as that of the federal government, could end the incessant attacks.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday in Abuja, urged Nigerians of Igbo extraction to support Prof. George Obiozor to fulfil his mandate as the new President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo.
Obiozor
The new leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo should know by now that what lies ahead of the Igbo nation is not a tea party, especially with 2023 knocking on the door. Days after the election of the Prof. George Obiozor-led leadership of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, dust is yet to settle on the matter. What ordinarily should bind the people together is instead breeding discord and threatening the unity that has existed among Ndigbo.
A day before the emergence of Obiozor, a factional Ohanaeze Ndigbo had reportedly elected Chief Chidi Ibeh, also from Imo State as President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. The faction, which was guided by the “suspended” Secretary general, Chief Uche Okwukwu, had declared any other election by Ndigbo after their own as invalid.

Obiozor emerged in an election held at Dan Anyim Stadium in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
This was even as other candidates for the position boycotted the election.
Chief Jackson Omenazu, who spoke with newsmen at the venue of the election, declared the process that brought Obiozor to power as fraudulent.
Omenazu, who is the Board of Trustees Member representing Rivers State at Ohanaeze Ndigbo, said the outgoing president general was misleading the Igbo nation.
